Information and Support
The aim of the Information & Support Service is to ensure that information about any aspect of cancer is available to anyone who requires it, including patients, carers, and health professionals. The information provided compliments the medical, nursing and primary information given to patients and carers by the professionals who are involved in the patient’s care.
Cancer Help aims to provide, in a sensitive and supportive manner, good quality, up-to-date and comprehensive information, in the most appropriate format, on any aspect of cancer including how to access further support.
Topics would include:
- Benefits/Welfare;
- Clinical Trials;
- Complementary Therapies;
- Diet and Nutrition;
- Information & Support Organisations in Lancashire and South Cumbria;
- Macmillan Grants;
- National Organisations/Charities;
- Prevention/Awareness;
- Specific Cancer Sites;
- Travel/Insurance;
- Treatments/Side-effects.
Information is available verbally and in written form such as booklets, leaflets, internet downloads and magazines/newsletters. Where appropriate, ie when criteria for benefits eligibility are met, help will be given in completing forms, eg financial entitlements or Macmillan Grants, etc. Some requests may be referred, or signposted to relevant organisations.
